Bart Drenth has resigned as the global managing director of Tefaf, the Dutch company that owns and operates the prestigious Tefaf Maastricht and Tefaf New York art fairs. Drenth, who took on the role in December, had previously served as the company's interim director. Tefaf stated that Drenth stepped down to focus on his consulting advisory business. The board will announce its leadership plan for the foundation and art fairs in the coming weeks. Drenth's resignation came shortly after controversial tweets from his private Twitter account, which has since been made private, were reported. The tweets contained statements that were described as "anti-woke." Drenth's departure also followed criticism from Charlotte van Leerdam, Tefaf's managing director, regarding his comments about her battle with breast cancer in the Dutch press. Tefaf thanked Drenth for his accomplishments during his tenure and expressed confidence in the foundation's future.
