Austrian Eva Presenhuber already has galleries in Zurich and New York. Today, April 1, she is adding a location in Vienna, at Lichtenfelsgasse 5, naturally in a prime downtown location. Vienna is a matter of the heart, she told the German newspaper Die Welt, and the rental costs are low compared to Zurich and New York.
The first exhibition in the arcaded house, which was built in the historicist style in the late 19th century, is to be dedicated to the Austrian artist Tobias Pils.
As for the reason for the new location, Presenhuber told the newspaper that more exhibitions mean more merchandise, meaning more sales locally or at fairs. Presenhuber also wants to bring her artists to Vienna, especially those who are still unknown in the Austrian capital, such as Adam Pendleton, Carroll Dunham, Steven Shearer and Amy Feldmann. In the next two or three years, Presenhuber would like to concentrate on her program first, before accepting new Viennese artists into her gallery.
