Narratives that Nurture the Mind
Carpenters Workshop Gallery
Carpenters Workshop Gallery, founded by Loïc Le Gaillard and Julien Lombrail in 2006, is a contemporary art gallery that has redefined the boundaries between art, sculpture, and design. The gallery operates within the market of Functional Art and Collectible Design, curating exhibitions that blur traditional artistic genres. With locations in London, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, the gallery has a strong presence at global art fairs and has crafted an ecosystem that values individual expertise at the service of a collective artistic adventure.
The gallery's journey began in a former carpenter’s workshop in Chelsea, London. The founders had a vision to rethink the boundary between art and design, recognizing that functional objects could evoke the same emotional responses as traditional forms of art. This vision has guided their artistic choices, leading them to select only the best works from artists they believe are the icons of their time.
Over the years, the gallery has presented ambitious solo exhibitions featuring works by renowned artists. It has also collaborated with Sotheby’s to present a monumental collection of sculptures in the gardens of Sudeley Castle and oversaw Random International’s ambitious installation at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum.
In 2016, the gallery launched its own workshop space outside of Paris, devoted to true craftsmanship and creativity, artistic research, and development. This space, where elite artisans come together in homage to the French ‘Arts Décoratifs’, is a testament to the gallery's commitment to production methods true to 18th-century techniques.
The gallery's expansion continued in 2015 with the opening of a permanent gallery space on Fifth Avenue in New York. This move, coupled with the relocation to a much larger exhibition space in London, solidified the gallery's presence in the international art scene.
Carpenters Workshop Gallery is a dynamic platform that nurtures creativity, fosters artistic growth, and promotes cultural exchange. Its diverse exhibitions and programs reflect its commitment to promoting a wide range of artistic expressions and its dedication to nurturing emerging talent. Through its exhibitions, educational programs, and collaborations, Carpenters Workshop Gallery continues to enrich the cultural landscape and inspire creative minds.
