A New Era in Visual Storytelling

New Art Centre

Nestled in the rolling Wiltshire countryside near Salisbury, the New Art Centre is a unique sculpture park and gallery set within over sixty acres of parkland. Founded in 1958, the gallery originally resided in Sloane Street, London, before relocating to Roche Court, Wiltshire, in 1994. This relocation marked a significant shift in the gallery's focus, with the expansive parkland providing the perfect backdrop for the display of large-scale sculptures.

The New Art Centre specialises in 20th and 21st-century art, with a particular emphasis on sculpture. The parkland setting allows for the display of large-scale works, while the gallery's award-winning contemporary indoor spaces, including the Gallery, Artists’ House, and Design House, provide a setting for smaller pieces and exhibitions. These indoor spaces were thoughtfully designed by English architect Stephen Marshall, creating a harmonious blend of art, architecture, and nature.

The gallery's program is diverse, featuring works from a wide range of artists. The New Art Centre represents the Barbara Hepworth Estate and has done so for over two decades, working closely with the family on a global exhibitions and sales programme. Regular indoor and outdoor presentations of Hepworth’s sculpture are a highlight of the gallery's offerings.

In addition to its exhibitions, the New Art Centre is also committed to education. The Roche Court Educational Trust welcomes school, college, university, and specialist groups to Roche Court for group visits. These visits provide an opportunity for participants to engage with the art on display and learn more about the artists and their work.

The New Art Centre is more than just a gallery; it's a haven for art lovers. The combination of the stunning Wiltshire countryside, the thoughtfully designed indoor spaces, and the wide range of art on display creates a unique and inspiring experience. Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or a curious newcomer, the New Art Centre offers a unique opportunity to engage with modern and contemporary art in a truly exceptional setting.
