Visions that Vibrant and Inspire

Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois

Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois Gallery, established in 1990 in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, has been a vibrant hub for art enthusiasts, bringing a fresh perspective to the art scene in Paris. The gallery has managed to unite established and contemporary artists in an ambitious exhibition programme, with a particular focus on Nouveau Réalisme and French Avant-Gardes from the 60s. This commitment to supporting artists' visions and promoting vital dialogue has been a defining characteristic of the gallery, setting it apart in the art world.

Since its inception, the gallery has successfully organized the first French solo shows of artists such as Alain Bublex (1992), Paul McCarthy (1994), Gilles Barbier (1995), Henrique Oliveira (2011), Pierre Seinturier (2014) and more recently of Iranian duo Peybak (2015), Cuban artist Lázaro Saavedra in 2016, John DeAndrea in 2018, Lucie Picandet and Zhenya Machneva in 2018, Tomi Ungerer in 2019, and Emanuel Proweller in 2021. The gallery also represents the estates of historic artists such as Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle. In 2017, Peter Stämpfli joined the gallery.

The gallery has been specialized in Nouveau Réalisme and French Avant-Gardes from the 60s since its inauguration. The 70s saw the birth of Hyper-Realism or Photo-Realism in the US, a new approach to fiction, simultaneously more realistic but also more contemplative than Nouveau Réalisme. Since 2018, the gallery represents two of its founding members: John DeAndrea and Robert Cottingham.

In 2016, the gallery expanded and opened a second exhibition space at 33 rue de Seine, continuing to develop a major program of exhibitions and artists' projects. This expansion has allowed the gallery to present a dynamic and diverse program of exhibitions, reflecting the evolving trends and discourses in contemporary art.

Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois Gallery stands as a testament to the enduring power of art and its ability to inspire, challenge, and engage. Its commitment to showcasing a diverse range of contemporary art, fostering relationships with artists and institutions, and maintaining a dynamic exhibition programme has solidified its status as a beacon of contemporary art in Paris. As it looks to the future, the gallery will undoubtedly continue to be a vital part of the global art scene, championing the work of artists and contributing to the global discourse on contemporary art.
