The gallery was initially located on Bruton Place in London before moving to 24 Dering Street in 2003. It expanded to include a second space at 21 Dering Street from 2006 to 2007. In 2007, the gallery moved to a 2,000-square-foot space in a former bank building at 15 Carlos Place, Mayfair, with an inaugural exhibition of Alex Katz's One Flight Up. In 2019, it relocated to a five-story townhouse with a 4,500-square-foot exhibition space. The gallery first opened in New York’s Chelsea district in 2016 and relocated to a 6,000-square-foot space in Tribeca in 2022.

The gallery represents numerous living artists, including Shezad Dawood, Gabriel de la Mora, Alex Katz, Josephine Meckseper, and Kiki Smith. It also manages various artist estates, including Antoni Tàpies. In the past, the gallery has worked with artists and estates such as Simon Hantaï and Hilary Pecis.

The Timothy Taylor Gallery has produced over twenty publications and shown over seventy exhibitions since its opening. It also participates in art fairs, including Frieze Art Fair, Art Basel Miami, and Art Basel. The gallery's commitment to its artists and its innovative programming make it a vital part of London's and New York's contemporary art scenes.

The gallery's recent exhibitions include "Dreaming of Eden" and "Birdsong," showcasing its commitment to presenting innovative and thought-provoking work.
