The gallery represents over thirty-five living artists and Estates, with areas of interest that include conceptual and South American art, and abstraction, minimalism, and figuration in painting, sculpture, video, and installation. The gallery's international programme has overseen the rise of multiple high-profile artists, including David Shrigley, Yinka Shonibare CBE, Tom Friedman, Jim Hodges, Kehinde Wiley, Rivane Neuenschwander, and Luiz Zerbini, amongst others. The gallery also works directly with the estates of Manuel Espinosa and Jiro Takamatsu, enhancing its primary programme of contemporary art with historical presentations of twentieth-century masters.

The gallery's team is led by Stephen Friedman, who has a long history of working with artists and collectors to bring contemporary art to a wider audience. Stephen Friedman Gallery has a dynamic and diverse exhibition program. Recent exhibitions include "Deborah Roberts: Come walk in my shoes," the first solo museum exhibition in New Mexico of Roberts’ work, which presents a selection of figurative collages and paintings centred on the experiences of black boyhood in the United States. Another notable exhibition is "Tal R & Mamma Andersson: About Hill," which explores the context of Nordic painting and the art of Carl Fredrik Hill through a series of brand new works by both artists.

The gallery has recently announced exciting news about its expansion and relocation. After 27 years at its current home on Old Burlington Street in Mayfair, Stephen Friedman Gallery will expand and relocate to neighbouring 5-6 Cork Street, Mayfair in the Autumn of 2023. This move signals a new chapter for the gallery, providing it with more space to showcase its artists and engage with its audience.

In addition to its London base, Stephen Friedman Gallery is also expanding its reach to the United States, opening its first gallery outside the UK at 54 Franklin Street, New York. This expansion reflects the gallery's commitment to promoting its artists on a global scale and its ambition to reach new audiences.
