Speaking without Words: The Visual Language
Galleria Continua
Galleria Continua, founded in 1990 by Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi, and Maurizio Rigillo, is a leading international contemporary art gallery. The gallery was established with the intention of providing continuity to contemporary art in a landscape rich with the signs of ancient art. The name 'Continua' itself reflects this vision, symbolizing the gallery's commitment to the ongoing promotion and celebration of contemporary art.
The gallery's journey began in San Gimignano, Italy, in a former cinema, where it thrived amidst a town steeped in history and timeless magnificence. Over the years, Galleria Continua has expanded its reach, opening spaces in Beijing, Les Moulins, La Habana, Rome, São Paulo, Paris, and Dubai. Each of these locations offers unique cultural contexts and audiences, allowing the gallery to foster a diverse and dynamic dialogue between artists, artworks, and viewers.
In 2004, the gallery embarked on a new adventure in Beijing, China, showcasing contemporary Western artists in a region where they were still relatively unseen. This was followed by the inauguration of a new site for large-scale creations, Les Moulins, in the Parisian countryside in 2007. In 2015, the gallery opened a space in La Habana, Cuba, devoted to cultural projects designed to overcome every frontier. In 2020, a new space in Rome was opened, dedicated to an open interculturality and new forms of dialogue and encounters between art and the public. In the same year, a space in São Paulo also opened, situated inside the Pacaembu sports complex. In early 2021, a new space opened in Paris in the heart of the Marais, just a few steps from the Centre Pompidou. In the same year, the gallery also inaugurated a space inside the most iconic hotel in the world, the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai.
Galleria Continua is a dynamic platform that nurtures creativity, fosters artistic growth, and promotes cultural exchange. Its diverse exhibitions and programs reflect its commitment to promoting a wide range of artistic expressions and its dedication to nurturing emerging talent. Through its exhibitions, educational programs, and collaborations, Galleria Continua continues to enrich the cultural landscape and inspire creative minds.
